Portable Appliance Testing - or PAT - is an essential component of your health and safety provisions. It is the electrical testing of electrical appliances within your business that are designed to be unplugged and plugged in elsewhere, mostly. Such appliances can develop faults over time through broken flexes, damage to the equipment, wearing out or misuse. A standardised series of tests carried out by a technician using specialised equipment on a regular basis are designed to identify these faults; whereby protecting your staff and your business. Electrical faults are a common cause of fires. Appliances have caused fires in tower blocks and low rise units alike, and people have died. Portable Appliance Testing is a valuable tool in detecting and negating those risks. |
